Personal Development at DISH
A company that is actively committed to the personal development of its employees creates a motivating work environment, which plays an important role in choosing an employer, especially for students.
About 3 years ago I started my journey in such a company, and I would like to share my experiences of how DISH Digital Solutions supported me in both my bachelor’s and master’s studies.
From Working Student to Junior Data Scientist
My journey began as a working student in the Data Insights Department. DISH not only provided me my first insight into the world of work, but also the opportunity to practically apply my knowledge from the university. What particularly helped me was flexible working hours and that my projects were aligned with the topics at university. This created synergies that allowed me, even as a working student, to take full responsibility for certain topics. One example is the prediction of customer churn in contractual business models – the topic of my bachelor’s thesis.
The whole thing was made possible by a corporate culture in which managers actively motivate to take responsibility, value good work, but also tolerate mistakes. Even before completing my bachelor’s degree, DISH approached me actively regarding further personal development and my future at DISH.
Part-time master’s degree
Due to my positive experiences during my time as a working student, my highest priority was to gain as much professional experience as possible in my master’s degree. Together with DISH, I decided to study part-time “Big Data and Business Analytics”, at the FOM. The concept of the technical college enables students to pursue a full-time job, with providing lectures on the evening and the weekend.
The program teaches state-of-the-art knowledge, especially in the field of (generative) AI, and creates a way to apply this knowledge directly to the relevant business domain. Automatic image analysis of dishes or an AI waiter are just two examples of projects in which the latest developments in the field of artificial intelligence are tested on a use case relevant to DISH.
My message to everyone who is interested
